FIRST DAYS AT LIBERTY:

Titus began receiving support from Liberty Employment Services, Inc. in November 2016. He was an eager individual who was motivated to become independent. However, there were several behaviors that hindered his path toward independence, but Liberty Employment Services, Inc. was determined to assist Titus with managing his behaviors. He began the program by engaging in recycling, laundry services, disassembling e-waste, volunteering at churches/thrift stores and vocational training. Although active, Titus requested to volunteer at the Inglewood School District.

VOLUNTEERING:

Liberty Employment Services, Inc. gave Titus a chance to volunteer at Centinela Elementary School in January 2019. He followed directions well and completed his assigned tasks (i.e., monitoring students, sweeping, etc.) with minimal supervision. His efforts were noticed and eventually was transferred to volunteer at Oak Street Elementary school. Since then, he has demonstrated leadership skills, continued to self-monitor and understood what was necessary to become independent.

WALGREENS:

Titus has proven that with patience and focus comes great opportunity. As of August 1, 2019, Liberty Employment Services, Inc. has partnered with Walgreens’ Retail Employees with Disabilities Initiative (REDI) Program to provide retail training to our participants and a possibility to gain employment. Titus’ hard work over the years has helped him become one of the first participants to join the REDI program at Walgreens. He states, “I hope to be hired because I would like to be independent.” Titus continues to volunteer and would like to gain employment at Walgreens or Game Stop. Keep up the good work, Titus!

LOOKING TOWARD THE FUTURE:

“I would like to be hired at Walgreens because I like the work I do here.” Titus would like to continue working at Walgreens after his 6-week training. He states it is a fun work environment where he could see himself working for years to come. Titus continues to be motivated to work in the retail industry and will apply his retail training in his future endeavors.
